Wire Erosion Specialists
Established in 1993 Techniwire are approachable, flexible and experienced, we have built a reputation for high quality machining, a keen price and tight delivery times.
Technical Expertise at Competitive Prices
When contacting Techniwire you will be talking to people who are technically aware. We not only have a wealth of knowledge in wire EDM, but also in press tools, mould tools and production machining. We can discuss your requirements and make quick decisions. With CAD CAM facilities we can program direct from your CAD files or models.
We pride ourselves on competitive pricing which comes from good management and efficient production procedures. We made a conscious decision not to get to large and lose the personal touch. So why not give us a call to see what we can do for you.
About Us
Techniwire was set up in 1993 by Neil Jones, an experienced toolmaker learning his trade in various engineering companies manufacturing press tools and mould tools before working as an applications engineer with a wire erosion machine supplier. This background is ideal for helping solve customer problems.
We are purely sub contract wire eroders, we don’t do anything else, so you can be assured that your job won’t be put on hold “while we finish off our own work” which often happens when you contract out to toolrooms with in house facilities.

The Process
E.D.M (Electro-discharge machining) is the process using a controlled current to erode a surface. Any material that can hold a current can be machined this way. Spark Erosion uses a copper or graphite electrode machined and shaped to to surface you want to reproduce. Wire Erosion uses this process to great effect, with full CNC controls and a very fine wire as the electrode, complex profiles can be machined to very tight tolerances.
Services
With wire erosion revolutionizing press tool making in the early 80s, it took a little longer to make its way into mould tool making, extrusion tools, production components, aerospace and one offs etc. Now with a little imagination the applications are endless.
Techniwire would be happy to discuss any application you have in mind.
